Vienna in ashes!!!... |
24.02.2010 |
We’re still extremely chuffed about last weekend’s extraordinary shows, it took us a couple of days to recover! We’ve been invited to support Heaven Shall Burn for two shows, one of which was a special “300” show (check out the pics here http://www.party.at/Photos/Archiv.2010/Streifen.2010.02.20.001/index.php?offset=20 and enjoy the armour). We stuck to the basics of metal and delivered a double set of mayhem which was received very well by two sold out crowds, the mosh definitely took place on those two nights! We had to take off in the middle of sunday night to make it home in time, but then again after all it’s been well worth it. Oh and we made it to austria’s most famous vegan restaurant and stuffed our bellies with great tasting food – absolutely worth the extra trip! Thanks to Werner for setting the whole thing up and also to HSB and Days Of Loss for the amazing shows!
We’re going back into the caves now to keep working on our next album, we’ll keep you all updated!
Cataract supporting HSB in vienna!... |
03.02.2010 |
We’re happy to announce two last minute shows; we got the opportunity to support our buddies from Heaven Shall Burn (DDR), which we gladly accepted now that we god some time on our hands. We will be sharing the stage at Szene Vienna on the 20iest and 21st of February (that’s sat and sun evening) and if you check out the location’s website you will notice it’ll be quite an event. So make sure to come out and mosh it up!
News roundup 2010!... |
28.01.2010 |
It’s murphy’s law. As soon as you have everything sorted, everything changes again. Here we go: our planned stay in the studio will be moved towards june/july, this will give us more time to sharpen the blades so it’s not a bad thing after all. However, the release date will also be moved and we’ll keep you posted about it as soon as we know more. We’re already more than busy with the new material and we will have a pre production done in feb/march.
Regarding shows – we will add some dates very soon as these changes give us some space. However, we will keep the amount of shows to a minimum so we don’t obstruct the preparations/work on the new album. Check our dates section and our myspace to see the dates we have confirmed. Changing the studio also means we’ll have to cancel some shows for summer which have already been confirmed but not yet announced. We’re sorry about this but you’ll understand that our 6th album is our top priority.
Kliffrock fest was a blast!!!... |
18.01.2010 |
Our final show before we hit the studio kicked some serious butt! Maroon, Born From Pain, Fear My Thoughts and Frequency of Hate helped us tearing the place up, what a way to start the new year! We met a lot of good old friends and made some new ones too; great sound and great audience included! So once again thanks to you all, especially to Gerry for setting everything up! We’re locking ourselves up now to finish the songwriting for our 6th album… more info about that soon!
Last news roundup before we hit 2010!... |
28.12.2009 |
We sure hope you've had some chilled out holydays so far and some even more
relaxed days are coming ahead. we're getting ready to start off 2010 with a
boom, this first off being a smashing Kliffrock fest alongside Maroon, BFP and
many others (also Fear My Thoughts' final show) on the 9th of January and then
secondly us getting ready for the 2010 follow up album to our s/t chartcrasher!
We'll keep you updated on what's going on... so far we're starting to spend
more nights in our rehearsal space than in our beds so the new songs will kick
serious butt. the first tracks have been hammered into our mp3 recorder and so
far it sounds bonecrushingly brutal!
however, to all of you all the best in 2010, see you on tour and keep
supporting cataract and metal/hardcore!
News roundup!... |
10.12.2009 |

We’ve got another show coming up in very early 2010, and then it’s time to get really busy with pre production etfc for our upcoming album – well tell you more about it as it develops.

Season’s beatings, cataract
Chur: hung, drawn and quartered!... |
16.11.2009 |
Last weekend’s Furious Metal Night pt 3 was a blast, we’re still stoked!! We’ve played with Switzerland’s new breed of metal/hardcore, this time massively incorporated through Shallow Bloodhood, Several Minutes Later, Set the Destroyer and Road to Nowhere plus Hungary’s ugliest gipsies, Bridge To Solace! Just kidding Zoli, you’re not ugly. Just really, really smelly. However, since the curfew was approaching fast, all bands played short but intense sets and we enjoyed the honour of finishing the evening off in a packed Kulturhaus. Cheers to Päsce for organizing it all! Keep your eyes open for future Furious Events!!
Thanks Bruneck!!... |
03.11.2009 |
We’ve recovered from a smashing show at UFO Club in Bruneck! First off thanks again to Stefano for the show and everyone helping out!! We got there pretty late and also needed to get back after the show so we kinda got a bit stressed out (we’re sooo nine-to-five, even on Saturdays). Nevertheless, a relaxed atmosphere got us all stoked up to play a late night show and amazingly, the people hadn’t left haha! So we had a crunching hour on stage and the crowd wouldn’t let us go (Ricola!! Ricola!!) so after all it took us way longer to get going… we made it with minutes to spare. Next up is Furious Metal Night with the best of grischun plus some punk band called Bridge To Solace!
Wallis rules OK!!!... |
27.10.2009 |
We’re back from an entertaining weekend in beautiful Italy and Switzerland’s very own Wallis! We’ve been very well fed and got to play two amazing clubs you wouldn’t really expect in the middle (yeah yeah) of the mountains. Italy rocked and after a stunning drive through the mountains (word of warning – the customs there are very, very bored) Wallis rocked even more. We had the pleasure to co-headline the third edition of Wallis on the Rocks and got to see some great new and old bands ranging from rock to old school death metal and deathcore. We finally got to play around 2300hrs and boy it was a massacre. Even the security guys joined the pit – more or less voluntarily. Next show up is again in Italy – Bruneck is awaiting us and YOU this Friday!
Mittwoch Metal! Live + Aftershow Party!!!... |
05.10.2009 |
This week’s wednesday we will be performing at the Headbanger with Vale Tudo, show starts at 2000hrs; Hive Club, Geroldstrasse 5 ZH! Damage 15chf, we will have a session guitarist jumping in for Tom who’s currently relaxing his bones, so be there for a unique show haha! Dani Beck will handle the turntables after the show so bring a friend or two and get stooopid. Love cataract!
Hive moshed it up!!... |
05.10.2009 |
Dear friends, the Wednesday show at Hive Zurich was fab, once again thanks to everyone who showed up and an extra mention goes out to Jay Kukleta who (once again) jumped in to save the show, this time on guitar and he did a great job!!! Next shows up are in Romagnano Sesa/Italy and and Sion/Switzerland, this will be the usual line up! See you there!!
Time for some news!... |
23.09.2009 |
We will play a special show on Wednesday, the 7th of october with our dear friends from Traktor Vale Tudo at Hive Club in Zurich! And yes the show is happening, all arrangements are done and it’s gonna be pretty pretty pretty pretty great! TC from Vale Tudo is organizing duh Headbanger, which hopefully soon will be a constant series of shows in a „new“ location (well for this kind of music at least…), reasonable prices and party with DJ Beck In Black! Make sure you bring a friend or two and start making the most boring day of the week something special! We will also add a show in Romagnano Sesia/Italy – check the dates - come out and mosh it up!!
Fun&Crust cancelled!... |
05.09.2009 |
Today we had to cancel our show at the fun and crust festival in
Untershausen/Höchstenbach in germany. it was for personal reasons we could not
predict and we don't want to explain in great detail. however, it was
inevitable to return to switzerland to take care of it and we apologise to all
the visitors and especially everyone involved in the fest that we had to
cancel. we're sorry for all the inconvenience this may have caused and we hope
to make it up to everyone at another time. cataract
Summerbreeze - Pics are up!... |

Summerbreeze rules!... |
14.08.2009 |
While the fest is still going on, we’re back in switzerland after a more than hectic opening night! First off, we need to apologize to our fans for letting them wait but hey, it could have been worse!! What happened – well, our bus broke down. we couldn’t believe it, but just about 80kms from Dinkelsbühl the gear box said bye bye for good. We managed to stop in an emergency bay and called up Summer Breeze to let them know we’re right in the middle of s#!@t. we seriously thought we’ll have to cancel, but Jörg, Todde an Anja made it happen – you guys are f’ing amazing! We got picked up by a shuttle bus who took us and our equipment to the fest while Fedi and Tom went to sort out the paperwork with the rescue service. Of course this meant that we couldn’t play our original spot but the guys from God Dethroned agreed to switch positions and play earlier so we could still make it. So cheers again guys, you rule! So we went on stage after the epic Powerwolf and rocked the night to a fantastic crowd – thank you all for supporting us and cheers again to God Dethroned and the Summer Breeze Crew for helping us out when we really needed it!
Summerbreeze ahoy!... |
11.08.2009 |
We’re getting ready for this years summer breeze fest in Germany! Can’t wait to hit the partystage, kicking off four metal fueled days of noise and party! See you guys there and get ready to mooooooshhhhh!

27.07.2009 |
F’Yeah!! we got amazing new merch in stock now, check out our webshop and Imperial.com to get an eye full of these crushing designs. The „Church“ design has been up for a while now, but the „Goatskull“ design is brand spankin‘ new! We will have it in our swiss shop too, just get in touch with your local dealer and get buffed up for whatever this summer is gonna be like! We will be playing this years season opening of our beloved Kiff club, it’ll be on Thursday, the 3rd of September and it will feature Samael as the headliner and I guess some more bands! We’ll be adding some more shows soon, keep checking back.
Back from Gehofen!... |
20.07.2009 |
We’ve had another rainy party weekend with a lot of nudist fun going on! Gehofen was very welcoming (lets forget about that little tomtom gps style detour over some brick roads just before we arrived), and the least we can say is that no one gave a F about the weather, so YEAH we had a smashing show! We also decorated the backstage room with explicit drawings, downed all the chili, Nico somehow got kidnapped - luckily we found him in a car’s trunk (naked), we also forgot to get petrol and almost ran out of it (…again!!!)… as you can see we’ve been very busy. Cheers to all the people involved, Kevin and his team for setting it all up and bearing with us; a special thank you goes to the bands helping us out with backline etc, you guys rule! We’re taking a little break now, you won’t notice but we’re still telling you. We’re gonna be back to play the Summer Breeze opening night so hope to see lots of you folks there!!!
Freezing our asses off…... |
13.07.2009 |
We played the second edition of Huttwil’s own „Mätteli Open Air“ in the middle of nowhere and again we’ve been surprised how much effort the people have put into it. Everything had been catered for and taken care of, so the visitors and bands stayed happy, including the picky bitches (us). we suffered a little bit from the cold (and local roadworks I might add), but that was only till we entered the stage in the witching hour, blasting some metal into the otherwise quiet valley! Our appreciation also goes out to all the people staying up and moshing the s#!@t out off the grass and emitting cloud after cloud of steam into the night! We’ve added some songs to our setlist but apparently it still wasn’t enough so we also added The Ramones as an encore much to the delight of the local punks haha! Now we’re getting ready to play gehofen next weekend, hope to see some of you there!
Frankfurt, Stapelmoor, Pfarrkirchen, Kleinwenkheim - thank you!!!... |
29.06.2009 |
We're back from two weekends full of great fun, about 4000kms of driving and pounding metal into people's heads! To sum it all up, we had great shows, starting off with a cozy open air named "Queens Of Metal" whose aim is to prove that pink (not black) is the colour to wear for real metalheads and we also got interviewed live during Tankard's show. No idea if you could understand a word, but those crazy guys from Metal Only thought it's a great idea (check www.metal-only.de for a possible release). Then we headed off to Frankfurt to play Nachtleben with the mighty Left Me Breathless and Affective Insanity (thank you guys again for helping us out!) and kick sunday night's ass! Last weekend supplied us with loads of traffic jam fun - must be germany's number one entertainment regarding the popularity - and one hell of a thunderstorm shortly before we arrived at Bogaloo to mosh it up with United Blood, Cemetery Dust and Misbegotten. even though we arrived more or less shortly before we played we had enough time to hang out and develop some new moves for the stage... we only had a short night as we had to drive to the very north of germany to play the Free For All fest in Stapelmoor. But hey, it was well worth it; this event was free for absolutely everyone (the name kinda gives it away innit...) and the bands performing offered a wide spectrum of music, from death metal to electropop and people seemed to enjoy themselves. We played a raging show to a excessively partying crowd and more or less finished the evening off... unfortunately we didn't have any MJ songs ready to play so we got booed back to switzerland! Thanks a lot to all the people involved, you guys rule!
Greenfield was a blast!!!... |
15.06.2009 |
We're back home, tired, sunburnt, dirty and smelly; but also very very happy! we had an amazing weekend at greenfield even though things got a bit hectic on sunday (the time schedule had to be compressed), the show surely was one to remember! Starting off quite relaxed some work on stage started taking more and more time, and suddenly the stage time for the opener was overdue - but we wouldn't be real pro's if we didn't handle that right? So Dry Conditions, us and August Burns Red had to hurry up with the change over and soundcheck to make up for the lost time. however, due to the late start we also got to play to a steadily increasing number of people... by the time the crusader took off we were looking at about one million people ready for some metal, headbäng and mosh! we played a condensed set, long enough though to introduce us to the crowd - and short enough to help the stage people back on track haha ;). And most important, the crowd liked it; we had pure pressure coming out of the towers and hundreds of people joining the early morning exercise group, getting those circlepits and wall of death going! but enough of us, we also got to hang out and see some truly great and entertaining shows so lets hear it for everyone involved: WOOOOOOOOOO! CRAZY!!!
Next weekend we're off to germany again, and just to keep the confusion down, the show at Holz/Niesky has been cancelled (venue exploded or something), Queens of Metal fest and Frankfurt are both fine! So see you there!
Signing session at Greenfield + new merch!... |
11.06.2009 |
Some last news before we hit Greenfield: we will have a signing session at the Leech Redda stall on sunday starting around 1400hrs! so come by and say hello! We will also have new merch with us which we will be selling through Leech Redda, we'll also add it to our shop soon! Enough now, see you moshing!!
One week 'till greenfield!... |
08.06.2009 |
It's getting closer now, and we're getting ready to play switzerlands largest rock festival this sunday in Interlaken! we also got some pics from our crazy show in Dresden, Click and have fun!
Another great weekend for the lovely swiss boys!... |
02.06.2009 |
We're back from playing Glarus in the middle of Switzerland, Osnabrück and Dresden in Germany and we had a shitloads of fun! Glarus was great event though we almost didn't find the venue. Holästei is an amazing little club with a nicely mixed crowd, beer bellies next to teen grasshoppers, a well stocked bar and a techno club next door for the aftershow pleasures; Wolfpit and Pigskin supported us and helped us out with equipment and a face paint machine, Mike and his team made us feel at home. Saturday had us driving all day to get to the Bastard Club, luckily traffic wasn't too bad, we got there way ahead of our schedule so we got to watch HSB's dvd in the bar while drinking and eating; the show wasn't too wild but very entertaining; cheers to Withering Eternity and Order Denied for helping us out! We had a cosy night (thanks schnalli!), got kicked out early - thanks again schnalli!!! :-) - and landed in dresden much too early. we took the chance and had a look around town and ended up sipping macchiatos and being rock stars in some cafe. we splitted up the band about 5 times during an internal table footie tournament and a song guessing contest but reformed to play the show! We got supported by Through Devastation, Capital Punishment and Myra who all played raging sets before we had the pleasure to play a completely packed Chemiefabrik - it must have been one of the sickest shows we played in the area, we almost collapsed from the heat but a completely mental crowd had us going on and on! thanks to all of you, especially to manuel and all at the chemiefabrik for putting up with our nagging and whining.
next up is Greenfield where we will headline the mainstage if I got the timeschedule right....
Greenfield ahoi!!!... |
25.05.2009 |
Yeah it's true and we couldn't believe it either, but we've been confirmed to play this years greenfield festival on sunday, along with Korn and Slipknot!! Of course we're looking very very much forward to this, it'll be one of this year's highlights for us! we got the news while we were on the road in italy and austria playing the Pieffe Factory (still one of the nicest clubs!) and Summer Nights Open Air, which also rocked big time thanks to a professional and helpful crew. next weekend has some more shows coming up, we'll be in Glarus, Switzerland and Osnabrück and Dresden, both in Germany - so come out and rock out!
Hackenbuch hacked to pieces!... |
19.05.2009 |
Seriously we thought our navi pulled a good one on us when we approached the village, but then we spotted the area and the noise coming from the tent let us know we've found it! One thing was for sure, they guys organizing it must have been to loads of festivals as they thought of everything to make either bands or visitors happy - cheers to that again. we got great food, great sound and a great response from the crowd - allthough some them still must be wandering the woods! thanks to all the bands and everyone coming out to support rural metal in austria haha! there's some pics and a review (in german) on Metal-underground.at.vu we're gonna be back in the area this very weekend when we play Lucinico's Pieffe Factory in Italy and the Summer Nights Open Air in Frauenstein, Austria! See you there!
Cancer got its ass kicked!... |
11.05.2009 |
We had great fun playing the annual Guitars Against Cancer fest along with Punish, Draven, Omaphagia, Them Bones and Lost Area - even though our premier table footie team lost to complete nobodies. cheers to the people organizing the event, all the bands helping them out and of course all the metalheads showing up! Special thanks to Phil from Requiem, you know why haha! Cataract is getting ready for this weekend's Zonk festival in Austria now, so everyone show up, aight! up the irons, cataract
Howdy!... |
04.05.2009 |
We've had a very exhausting weekend but nevertheless it was still great and very exciting - in many ways. first off, we spent 11 hrs on the road to magdeburg checking out germany's finest radio programmes (it's basically the same but with different names) while we were standing in a 200km traffic jam. we basically made it to the show just before midnight, however it was still great fun! thanks to the bands for lending us equipment and to the whole crew too! Zedtwitz had a lot of trouble in store, before we even started playing there were about half a dozen fights going on (atzen vs ratzen) and Snatch Club had to stop their set after three songs due to the trouble. however, we got to play a bit later and got the circle pits going - cheers to Fall Down for the Backline!
After a way too short nap we headed off to belgium to play pacrock fest, we were up in the afternoon with Maroon (thanks again guys!), Ektomorf and Dagoba and even though it was quite early for the metal part of the fest, the venue was nicely packed!
Next show is this weekend, benefit for Guitars Against Cancer with loads of other bands, make sure to come out and support the cause!
Birkfeld rocks!... |
21.04.2009 |
Okay okay it's a bit late, but we gotta let you know we've had a great show at this year's Burn Out fest in Birkfeld/Austria. I took us ages to get there and when we started climbing up some mountains we seriously doubted this village exists but it just was our dear navigation system fooling us once again... however we got to the place where the first unit started off already and we were amazed how good this show was organized, so here's to all the guys and girls involved!! we played quite late but nonetheless added some more songs to the set and finished off the show with The Ramones! Our extra special thanks go to Geri and Max for taking care of us, you guys rule!
Back from Athens!... |
15.04.2009 |
We had one hell of a show in athen with the one and only Walls Of Jericho, great supports, incredible fans and a smashing location! Thanks to Dimitris and his team for a short but insane time, and cheers to WOJ and the guys from Poison the Well who already were hanging out in Athens for some great laughs! Our weekend started with our last minute support slot for Samael at Fri-Son/Fribourg, once again great show in this classic venue and with such a renowned act too! Then it was time for - I guess - switzerland's oldest HC fest, Dance Of Days is back and people couldn't wait - it sold out in the presales and especially during Bane's furious show the place was overpacked just as we're used to it! Once again, it kicked major ass, and let's hope this fest will continue every year now! Next up is Burn Out Fest in Austria see you there!

Love, cataract

Cataract supporting Samael... |
19.03.2009 |

Thank you Lucerne... |
16.03.2009 |

we know we owe you a show update and it'll be coming this week alright! so don't... yeah! lots of physical love, cataract
Vienna in Ashes and Cataract in snow...... |
08.03.2009 |
On a scale from one to ten, we clearly had the Spinal Tap value. This must have been the shittiest (sorry) weather we ever had to drive in, it almost doubled the time we had planned for the travelling.. damn! well, at least we had an excellent show in vienna, great fun before and after the show plus some wreckage on the drum side which kinda made the final song sound a bit funny on stage...! cheers to all the people coming out and making this show a blast, we sure hope to see all of you guys again soon! it even made us forget clearly being cheated away from the table footie!
we're getting ready for this weekend's show in lucerne, make sure you come along and mosh it up!
Bern in Ashes, Vienna up Next!... |
02.03.2009 |
First off, thanks to all the metalheads and mosh addicts for showing up and wrecking the place! the show was sold out in the presales so we kinda expected a great show but you people are clearly mad! thanks to the Bloody Krooks for sharing the stage with us and another special thanks to Simon and the whole rest of the ISC team for preparing such a rockstar backstage for us haha! I'm sure it's not gonna take another 10 years until we make it back to switzerland's capital! see you out there, cataract
Bern and Vienna calling!... |
26.02.2009 |
Tomorrow's the day, we finally play Bern and it's in none other than the famous ISC! The Bloody Crooks will be supporting us and we can't wait for the mosh! We also finally got the confirmations for the vienna show next week, we will play the birthday Bash for Vienna's favourite metalclub Escape!! Check out the link in our dates, there's shitloads of bands playing and we will be headlining friday! see you there, raising hell!
Wohlen wrecked, Bern up next!... |
16.02.2009 |
Well we could have guessed, but the show in Wohlen was brootal as f##k!! The small venue was sold out long before and along with our show, the artist Rolf Bruehwiler (www.demonthrone.ch) opened his exhibition of truly disturbing art. We played a room smaller than our rehearsal room, the drumkit took up almost the whole stage and Tom had his hair wrapped around some light bulbs all night, but we really had a great time and the crowd went nuts from the first breakdown! So thanks to all the metalheads and hardcore kids for moshing it up!!
Next up is the famous ISC in Berne, word has it you should use the presale as the tickets seem to go fast! we've added some more shows for the upcoming summer! stay heavy and party hard! check out the dates too, we added some more shows for this summer!
No - no... nooo - no - no - no...... |
04.02.2009 |
for the few who witnessed our obvously completely underrated version of 2Unlimited's disco classic at yesterday's Karaoke From Hell, thanks for cheering but no thanks for not cheering loud enough! Just kidding. We had a great night out and a lot of fun looking like tits again (pics are coming soon I hope), the place was insanely crowded and the heat increased by the minute! So I guess it's see ya next year haha! Last weekend's show at the Winter Freeze fest in Abtsgmünd was packed too, we rocked the stage with the likes of Crematory, Volbeat and Callejon along half a dozen other metal bands! Once again cheers to everyone moshing it up! up next is our little arty mc farty show in Wohlen, I guess the few tickets have gone by now but nevertheless, come out and tear the place up with us, it's been a while since we played a living room sized club!
Guestlist for sale!... |
29.01.2009 |
We're getting ready for this weekend's Winter Freeze Fest and of course our annual contribution to the Karaoke From Hell birthday! And we've got great news about that - we're selling off the guestlist places. No just kidding, since we're a hardcore band we can't do that (thanks!!!) so we're giving them away; 12 places are up - send a mail to info@cataract.cc with the header "I'm a bum, I can't afford 10chf for a party", first come first serve! ONE CONDITION - you have to be there at 2000hrs, the guestlist will be obsolete after 2100hrs. Our guests will get fingerfood and a free drink (prosecco for the cüplirockers hah!)! So make sure you are able to show up early.
GO!

Athens Show Cancelled... |
17.12.2008 |
Our Show in Athen (with Bury your Dead) unfortunately was cancelled due to the club is more or less in the middle of the epicenter and i guess Dimitris doesn't want a bunch of fried tourists because our lyrics to "Burn the Snake" were misinterpreted. We're trying to fix a follow up date as soon as possible. Sorry about that.

Hambiance Fest Cancelled!... |
21.11.2008 |
We are terribly sorry to announce the cancellation of tomorrow’s appearance at Hamme(r)fest in Belgium. Unfortunately Ricky was involved in a car accident yesterday morning and was slightly injured. Don’t worry he’s not in hospital anymore but was quiet happy with the turn out of the accident, as he was only slightly injured. Nevertheless he is not able to travel long distances nor is he able to play drums.
We are terribly sorry for all our Belgian fans and everyone involved in the hamme(r)fest, as this is the second show we have to cancel in a short period of time! Unfortunately the circumstances force us to cancel the show!
We are very looking forward to have the Belgium shows made up in the future for you and also wish you a lot of fun at the hamme(r)fest! Cataract
Hell On Earth - We have to drop Eindhoven Show tomorrow... |
19.10.2008 |
Today's show in Mulhouse will be our final show instead of the one tomorrow in
Eindhoven. There's been a logistics problem and we can't get a new Van to drive
back from Eindhoven - so we have to kick it today and cancel Eindhoven :-(
sorry about that, it's an annoying situation.
Hell On Earth Report - (Milan) Alcatraz... |
16.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport : 15.10.2008 Alcatraz, Milan. Fedi’s favourite town ;-) the club is huge. HUGE. There’s room for about 3000 people here, haha! But with a giant curtain the whole thing gets remarkably smaller and also a bit more clubby. We get a shitload of very tasty Italian food until late at night, we have to cut down on the sightseeing since we arrived quite late and we have a photo shooting on the rider. STYG open up furiously, followed by Animostiy and The Red Chord who both deliver. We are confident, winning over the crowd with Fedi’s fluent Italian and getting the people into circle and mosh pits; martins kick ass sound helps us to keep the more focused crowd listening and thus we leave the stage happy – we love Italy! Bus call is pretty early as we’re expecting the usual trouble at the border so I guess we’ve added an extra hour or two to the driving time for hassles with customs. Tomorrow means home to us so we’re all excited about great food and possibly also about seeing girlfriends… and getting rid of the dirty clothes.

Hell On Earth Report - (Munich) Backstage... |
15.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport : 14.10.2008 Backstage, Munich. So the whole place has been moved, rebuilt or whatever; it still looks like backstage and now it finally has some space on and off the stage, the sound was crushing and its great fun to play here! Things were a bit like in Vienna, most people preferred to listen to the first couple of bands and some danced, everyone seemed quite focused and saving the energy for later. We had a great response, more and more people got into it and by the end we had the crowd 2stepping and moshing the dancefloor left to right! Now we’re off to Milan, Italy – the show was almost cancelled by the way but now still happens since the presales have been doing good!

Hell On Earth Report - (Vienna) Arena... |
14.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport : 13.10.2008 Arena, Vienna
This must be one of the best clubs in Europe. I remember that we played here ages ago and now we get to see how much has changed in the past years. There’s loads of room for all the bands, half a dozen showers, very very decent food and a very spacious stage with enough room to put all our shit in. The show itself was very crowded, the hall filled up nicely and we met some old friends whom we spent most of time talking to; we had a very tight show and finally got the people dancing (they were very focused..) – Austria is also a place we definitely need to play more. After the show we chilled outside, talking and drinking and Nico went to show the mosh to some new friends. We had a very short drive to Munich and now we’re excited to play a completely different Backstage club!

Hell On Earth Report - (Prague) Abaton... |
13.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport : 12.10.2008 Abaton, Prague
What a night! It’s been a while since we played here but it seemed everyone who saw us in those other couple of times remembered to come along and make this an completely sick show for us! But to start off telling about an eventful day, lets just mention that our bus has no climate whatsoever or even functioning ventilation. So when it’s standing in the sun – like today – it’s just heating up in minutes to a level where you can’t breathe no more in the sleeping compartment. So we chilled outside, while about 15 – 20 people went to town. This is kinda important because after Action opened the night, the guys from STYG just arrived in time to play theyr set. But after them it was quiet. Animosity’s guitarists weren’t around, got lost in Prague – and as Red Chord also were partly absent there was no-one to really fill in. Red Chord were the first band to be complete so they went up as fast as possible. Animosity were completed while Red Chord were playing so everything worked out fine. When we went on stage, all hell broke loose, people went completely crazy and pushed us to the limits – topped by a girl jumping on stage to give our womanizer Nico a kiss haha! We went offstage feeling like kings and right now WOJ are kickin’ it. Can’t wait for Vienna!!!

Hell On Earth Report - (Dresden) E-Werk... |
12.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport : 11.10.2008 E-Werk, Dresden. This show was going to be big. The presales ranged at almost 1’000 and when we entered the place we were looking at a huge hall which - like in Magdeburg - normally would hold techno parties, but luckily enough, it wasn’t going to be tonight. Our backstage was a white fluffy milky room which kinda reminded of the Clockwork Orange club, just without the drink. People tonight were very focused and rather stood there listening to the brutality dealt out by STYG, Animosity and The Red Chord; it was up to us to get the people moshing. It seemed they’re all waiting for something, and as WOJ entered the stage you would know what for. This show was just a blast and at the end the crowd was just going on an on chanting so Walls came back on stage a second time to finish everyone off with a fatal wall of death / circle pit combination package.

Hell On Earth Report - (Berlin) SO36... |
11.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport : 10.10.2008 (Berlin) SO36. Another show in this amazing club, in this amazing city. It’s always a peak experience here since this is MAD’s hometown and home to the whole road crew. As soon as we arrived we had to get the gear out as one of the busses went to a garage to get its starter fixed. We settled down in the backstage, got stuff done and then we enjoyed a shitload of tasty food at yellow sunshine.
Still in Berlin, after the show
Thank you Berlin for such a killer show! We loved every minute of it, you people kicked serious ass and as mentioned before, it was a peak experience once again. The show was completely sold out, somehow 1’000 people were jammed into SO36 and made this show a night to remember – not just for us! So thanks again, everyone involved and also thanks to Justin for lending us his spare lollipop drumkit, you rule! We’re off to get some more food now haha!

Hell On Earth Report - Schweinfurt (Stadtbahnhof)... |
10.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport : 09.10.2008 Schweinfurt (Stadtbahnhof). We’ve played this club like half a dozen times already so we were quite surprised when we got in, loads of changes have been made, the place will hold much more people now and seeing the masses of old and new school people turning up it was well necessary. The Red Chord were fucking killing tonight, and the crowd response was crazy, they were also joined by Jesse STYG and Leo Animosity for some guest vocals! After this massive performance we had to give a 100% to succeed and guess what we did haha. No seriously we’ve had a blast on stage, the kids went nuts and WOJ worked out behind the stage while we played. After the show we had to kickstart the tourbus which wasn’t that easy especially because someone forgot to release the handbrake. But now were driving towards Berlin, and as we heard the show is gonna be sold out!

Hell On Earth Report - Paris (Gibus)... |
09.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport :08.10.2008 Paris (Gibus). Finally we made it to Paris, last time we actually played here was on a boat with Maroon, and then we had the No Mercy Tour Bus fuckup which kept us from seriously damaging La Loco. So this time we landed near the famous place de la république to give it another go at Gibus (actually a hip hop club and boy we didn’t expect what would happen. The club was really small regarding the stage, so we decided to play over one drumkit only (thx to Justin WOJ) and use all the same guitar heads to keep the chaos down. Time was also playing hard on us since the curfew was very strict so there was no time to fuck around and STYG almost got cancelled because they’ve been looking at the mona lisa too long, thinking “dude I thought it was bigger”. There was also a local supporting band which got cancelled in the last minute because of the time schedule. The show was crushing, people loved the bands and we entered the stage full of anticipation – our last show on that boat was a massacre - and it went down the same alley. People were f’ing butchering each other, and after some guy got knocked out the bouncers were standing on the ringside, making sure it’s not going to be murder. So it’s been a hotter than hell welcome from paris and we definitely have to come back here more often!

Hell On Earth Report - Lindau (Club Vaudeville)... |
08.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 07.10.2008 Lindau (Club Vaudeville). Today we were really close to Switzerland and we had some little visitors from the holy land – girlfriends and in Tom’s case his two kids Mara and Demian who also helped us setting up he stage. After a long period of rain we also got plenty of sun today which heated up the bus to an unbearable 40°C upstairs along with about 100% humidity so everyone was hanging around in this nice venue waiting for the food (au usual).
The stage offered enough space for the equipment so today we didn’t have to pile things up on each side of the stage, change over was nice and quick, enough time for the monitoring and thus we got a smashing sound and a killer performance! Cheers to everyone coming out and partying!

Hell On Earth Report - Jena (F-Haus)... |
07.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 06.10.2008 Jena (F-Haus). To sum it up, this was just a fantastic evening! We had great sound, killer support, a crowd going nuts from start to finish and some half naked people running from and to the shower which is located in a small room next to the stage. So we had great entertainment, great food and we can’t forget to mention that little falafel shop which gave the whole tour a nice after show snack.

Hell On Earth Report - Zaandam (De Kade)... |
06.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 05.10.2008 Zaandam (De Kade) Another well renowned venue on this tour, and with its small rooms and angled passages it reminds a lot of the underworld in London. We had to set up and sound check straight away, as the show was set as an afternoon show and was supposed to be over by 2100hrs. Despite or should I say thanks to the constant heavy rain the place was packed quickly and STYG rocked the house! The only thing that bothered us was the lack of space for 40 people, no towels, no heating and the food was served exactly when we went on stage – so we had to visit a nearby Domino’s to get some pizza and eye candy hah! Bus call was 2200hrs and now we’re in Jena getting ready for load in!

Hell On Earth Report - Magdeburg (Froximum)... |
05.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 04.10.2008 Magdeburg (Froximum). Today is different from yesterday, we’re playing a huge storage hall which offers the sound qualities of a metal bin and the comfort of a off street dump. Why would you put a show in a place that’s basically being deconstructed? And WHY would you book a techno party right next to it – when there’s just a lousy gay courtain separating the halls? That’s right, the sweet mosh of Evergreen Terrace and WOJ was constantly backed up by utz utz utz. However, the hundreds and hundreds of people didn’t really care and got a full dose of Hardcore and Metal. Evergreen Terrace had their first how today and it was a mighty punch! So now we’re complete again and looking forward to tomorrow’s show in Holland.

Hell On Earth Report - Saarbrücken (Roxy)... |
04.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 03.10.2008 Saarbrücken (Roxy). This was the second completely sold out show on this tour, even though it was moved just shortly before the show. I guess it also was the peak of the tour so far, as the kids went nuts from the first band on, and within a minute the whole place was dripping water from the roof. We also got great food and a great sound too so the night was perfect, the only negative thing was All Shall Perish’s farewell from the tour which was duely celebrated by the mysterious appearance of two mummies on stage and a backstage drinking contest between ASP and MAD who’s winner still isn’t established. There’s not much more to say than thank you Saarbrücken for an amazing evening!

Hell On Earth Report - Hasselt (Muziekodroom)... |
03.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 02.10.2008 Muziekodroom, Hasselt. Once again, nice memories of this place, we played here with HSB and Maroon on our last Hell On Earth Tour and it was absolutely great! Since we’ve spent the night here we’ve been up quite early and there was no one who could let us inside the backstage so we could shower or just get proper internet access – even though the rooms were completely empty and we were about to get in there anyway sooner or later.
The show itself was suffering from the very clean and dry sound, I went to listen to every band for a couple of songs and it just sounded odd without all the dirt and noise this music needs to sound good, maybe that was also the reason why people have been very focused all through the night. However, we had a great show and made a lot of new fans so we went to bed happy.

Hell On Earth Report - On The Way... |
02.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 01.10.2008 on the way.
After we lost touch with WOJ’s nightliner we took the ride over the channel anyway, got an extra hour on the sea – don’t know why but it’s been for free so we should be thankful right!? We headed towards Antwerpen as the we should be able to get into a venue to chill out, get some electricity and spend the day not looking like trailer trash. On the way we waited up for the second bus, who managed to miss the right exit again.
We didn’t do much than getting some drinks off a petrol station and then decided to go to Hasselt anyway, where we are now. There’s not much we can do, just the club’s café is open and we have got hours to kill. So we went for a stroll in the city, got some nice Italian food and then watched Liverpool reigning supreme over Eindhoven and finally went back to the busses for a quiet sleep.

Hell On Earth Report - Sheffield (Corporation)... |
01.10.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 30.09.2008 Corporation, Sheffield. First off, the bad news strike us. Tomorrow’s show in Peterborough has first been moved and then cancelled completely, so we’ll have an extra day off which no one really want. Maybe well get the chance to wash a few things. We can’t get a reasonable way of getting back to Switzerland so we probably have to cancel the last show too.
However, the corporation in Sheffield holds some dear memories, as this has been the place for our first UK show on the Stampin’ Ground tour luckily we got to play the big stage this time haha! The show was marked by a very tight time schedule so it’s been a lot of come on come on hurry up ready yeah all night just to be kicked out of the club before midnight with absolutely nothing to do. A whole bunch of us, ASP, Animosity and STYG decided to go for a UV bubble party, then switched for a drum’n’bass party which we turned down as the door price was somehow 10£ and not 3 as some rather tipsy girls thought. So we headed back to the busses and decided to have a party there.

Hell On Earth Report - Plymouth (White Rabbit)... |
30.09.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 29.09.2008 White Rabbit, Plymouth. We arrived early so we had a lot of time to check out a shopping mall which was just next door, we got shitloads of stuff from primark and some nice flavoured coffee! Since everyone was so busy running around London, we’re all in the backstage catching up on t’internet, anserwing emails and adding friends haha! We’ve also been taking some new pics, and you might wanna check them out on our myspace!
29.09.2008 during the show…
WOJ have just entered the stage and we’re sat backstage, enjoying the noise! Our show was great, we had a three rows of (more or less) serious headbangers in the front, hailing metal and manhood, or so. Anyhow, we enjoyed the show big time, lots of sweat had to go and we’ll file it under “nights to remember”.

Hell On Earth Report - London (Underworld)... |
29.09.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 28.09.2008 The Underworld, London. Yes, the show has been moved to one of LDN’s most famous clubs and since this is a first for us, we’re stocked to play here. Today’s line up has change quite a bit, we’re already up early but it leaves us time to hang out with girlfriends and other friends haha! All of us got quite busy shopping around Camden market and eating delicious food from the many stalls! The show was awesome, the place was packed and HOT! We’ve played a new set due to a shorter playing time and it f’ing rips, Martin gave us a smashing sound and so we kicked some ass! After the show we had some more vegan all you can eat and some delicious Indian curries, stuffing ourselves for the night. We left around 0200hrs towards Plymouth.

Hell On Earth Report - Essen (Fun Box Amalie)... |
28.09.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 27.09.2008 Fun Box Amalie Essen. We got kicked out of bed around 0400, one of the trailers broke down – great. We had to move the whole equipment into the busses, and pile the rest in the remaining trailer up to the roof. Happy memories… last tour with HSB and Maroon had the police stopping us because the trailer was too heavy. Oh well.
About the show now, Godzzfest was quite a surprise for us as it’s been ages since we last played Denmark and we had no idea what to expect. The club was really nice, we had a pool table, ping pong table, airhockey and more at our disposal so we looked forward to play. The kids already went nuts for All Shall Perish and they kept going wild for us! Megalolz! No seriously we were really happy with the show, it wasn’t the biggest audience but I dare say the prettiest. Jacob who helped us recording the album said hello and he also took some of us to a bar called Pitstop even though we couldn’t really stay as we had to go on an 8hr journey to Essen (which also featured the above mentioned incident).
Now we’re here, washing clothes, washing ourselves, setting up, the usual shitload of fun you have on tour haha!
28.09.2008 still in Essen… YO! I guess today was the best show so far, for every band I watched. Stick to your Guns set the standards with an absolutely mental show, the kids loved it and went berserk – and so did the band. Only All Shall Perish were actually able to match that madness with an astonishing display of insanity (or should I say wackiness?) people stormed the stage after their show to rip them off their goods. Honestly, it was hard to keep up the pace after such a blast, but the audience played along and supported us, so once again we had an amazing show! Bus call is in a couple of minutes and then it’s over to en-gur-land, en-gur-land, en-gur-laaaaaand!

Hell On Earth Report - Kolding (Godzzfest )... |
27.09.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 26.09.2008 Godzzfest Kolding. Last night’s show was a blast, once again. We’ve been here about 4 times now and we spread out to get our individual food (i.e. vegan burgers for the veggies and roasted duck for the murderers) and made it back just in time to see STYG rip it up. The Markthalle finally offered enough room for everyone’s equipment so setting up wasn’t such a pain but still very stressful. Apart from the come on, come on beforehand it turned out to be our best show so far, we had a killer sound out there and a great response from the audience.
While half of us and half of All Shall Perish indulged in an all night game of poker, some guys went to the reeperbahn and some posers went to bed. We left around 0600 towards danmark and now were here, waiting for our tour managers to get up so we can load in. fucking punks.

Hell On Earth Report - Hamburg (Markthalle)... |
26.09.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 25.09.2008 Markthalle Hamburg. Yesterday our troops were reinforced by the more or less local A Traitor Like Judas who also opened the set, after them Stick To Your Guns played an amazing set (I’m still feeling sorry for that bassdrum) and then Animosity, The Red Chord and All Shall Perish dealt out a serious amount of sonic torment. We were up next, and much to my discomfort the monitors were totally gone, so the first couple of songs probably sounded a bit whacky. But as soon as they were actually turned on, we steamrolled the place and left it to be completely torn down by the mighty Walls Of Jericho. Bus call was around 6 in the morning again, so we all had the chance to get a nice shower, try to impress Candace by lifting up some stone weights (she didn’t even bother) just to be outnumbered by Red Chords Singer. We ended up watching some X Factor Auditions, Alan Penfold’s version of the MJ classic “black or white” and Ant & Seb’s butchering of “mysterious girl” were the winners. It’s about 1000hrs on Thursday, we’re in hamburg, already parked behind the Markthalle and waiting to load in. Check back soon!

Hell On Earth Report - Hannover (Musikzentrum)... |
25.09.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 24.09.2008 Musikzentrum Hannover. we got here shortly after lunch and today was all about sorting out the merch, all the equipment and setting things up in no hurry whatsoever. WOJ did a long sound check so the sound will kill tonight; as a special local support A Traitor Like Judas are also joining in today for a single show, so it's packed on stage once again! right now we're getting some great food so cheers and check back soon!

Hell On Earth Report - Frankfurt (Batschkapp)... |
24.09.2008 |
Daily Tourreport: 23.09.2008 Batschkapp Frankfurt. First day! Were meeting up around 1000hrs, stuff our van with equipment, a ton of shirts and some bandmembers (cheers to alex for driving us) and then hit the road towards frankfurt. When we finally got there – as I understand the last ones - everyone else was already getting ready and setting up the backline, drumkits etc. All Shall Perish brought another drumkit which left the stage rather cramped. However, first days of a tour are always chaos, so things had to be arranged, stuff to be found and so on. The show started on time and even though animosity had to play a show with only one guitar, all the bands kicked ass and I can happily say that this package rips! We left the venue around 0600hrs to pick up animosity’s lost bandmember from the airport and now we’re heading to hannover!

We have to cancel Meadow Fest ... |
30.08.2008 |
We're extremely sorry but we have to cancel saturday's show at Meadow Fest,
Belgium. Fedi has an infected throat from last weekends cold and rainy mudbath
in Gränichen and as of today it still hasn't gotten any better. We waited until
the last minute but now we have no other choice than calling it off. We've been
looking forward to play Belgium again and we want to apologize to the promoters
for this and also to our fans for not being able to make it. I hope you can
understand.
Video shooting cancelled ... |
18.08.2008 |
Dear all, we're sorry to inform you we have to skip the video shooting we've been planning, as of last week we lost the location for the shooting and it was impossible for us and the guys doing it to find an equivalent alternative. we'd have to change the date (again) and that would mean another short termed change for everyone involved, so we decided to cancel it and plan it again. thanks to everyone who wrote in and offered their help, we will get back to you - your loyalty won't be forgotten.
on the positive side we had a smashing show supporting the incredible Kill Switch Engage and the mighty As I Lay Dying (finally!) and we're looking forward to this weekend's show at Open Air Gränichen! All the best, cataract

We're going to support As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage on the 12th of August at Rohstofflager, Zurich. We know, it's been a while since we've played there, but we would be mad to say no - especially since the bands themselves have asked us to play. Back from Dour Fest, Cavalera Conspiracy... |
20.07.2008 |
We are back from the Dour Fest where we had a crushing show on the eastpak core stage! Cheers to all the people filling the tent and the crew taking care of us and thanks to hsb for sharing the equipment with us. Our show with the Cavalera Conspiracy two weekends ago was another blast - again in a completely full Rohstofflager but with a little less room and time than in march, nevertheless with an amazing response! Next weekend has three festivals up for us, hope to see you there! Yours truly, cataract
Cataract newsbash + show update!... |
11.07.2008 |
We've returned from an incredible With Full Force open air, once again it was smashing to play a completely packed hard bowl tent along the likes of Born From Pain and Madball! Cheers to everyone involved and about a million people moshing it up! We stayed for saturday enjoying great weather, great bands (Job For A Cowboy + Heaven Shall Burn = holy maccheroni!), great food and great fun! We will upload some pics on our myspace profile in the next days so keep checking back! Some more news: We've added new merch on our webpage so check it out, we added some shirts, longsleeves, etc..!
furthermore we've updated the show section; the Hell On Earth dates are up, please remember that they still might change. we've also added some other shows, this weekend we'll be supporting the Cavalera Conspiracy! we've been added last week that's why it's up so late. We saved the world + show update... |
16.06.2008 |
Cheers to all the people coming to check us out at the Viva La Natur fest and the RockSound open air. If anyone knows where all the 13year old girls squealing for Simple Plan were when we played, let us know - we just had a whole bunch of ugly metalheads, haha! If we want to see that we can look at ourselves! But seriously, we had two great shows so thx to the people involved, Thomas, Dano, Petra and especially Born From Pain for lending us equipment!
We're concentrating on watching the Euro Championships now... three of our teams are still in, two of them are qualified so let's see what happens. especially when we rehearse next time. Next show up is none other than the With Full Force open air, we will play friday and possibly hang around on saturday. Yes that is correct, the show in Graz as we planned is cancelled, due to a misunderstanding we thought we had a booking but... well we don't. So it'll be later this year.

Wolfsklause pics online... |
03.06.2008 |
check out This to find some great pics from our show with Epitome of Frail! Imagine 200 people stuffed into a room that's barely larger than your bedroom, add metal and lots of beer and that's what happened. cheers again to everyone coming out!
Cataract's weekend was a blast!!... |
02.06.2008 |
We're back from two amazing shows in Aarau and Oberwolfach! We're still psyched about them, we had two packed venues (one was rather overpacked) and a shitload of fun! So cheers to all the people involved, Dinu and Jan for organizing, all the bands, and of course to the people coming out and moshing it up - it was absolutely smashing! We will upload some pics from the shows on our myspace, keep checking it... We're looking forward to this weekend where we will play Huttwil's Rock Sound Open Air along with Mercenary, Porcupine Tree, Within Temptation and many more - our show time has been moved to 20.45 on the outdoor stage, there should be enough room for everyone haha!!
We're gonna have a huge show update soon, I guess you all know why! stay metal!
Une soirée puissante...... |
22.05.2008 |
We've had a fantastic show at one of switzerland's nicest clubs - bikini test in La Chaux De Fonds! We've spent some quality time driving through the infinite woods of the swiss jura mountains and we've been rewarded with an ass kicking crowd! Thank you all for coming out and partying out, we've had an amazing show and LOTS of fun haha!! We've met some crazy guy there, we'll upload the pic as soon as we get it!
Cheers to all the people involved and especially Blown for supporting us and hooking us up with equipment, you guys rock! We will come back, hopefully very soon! Check out our other dates, next shows up are at Kiff and Wolfsklause in Aarau and South Germany respectively! see you there!!
Terra in Ashes!!... |
13.05.2008 |
Cheers to all the metalheads coming out and moshing it up last friday at terra - what an insane show! we knew the place was kinda small but if you imagine that the drumkit took away about half of the space we had you can figure out it was going to be a tight show haha! Vertebrae already heated up the place with some crunchy metal when we got ready to play a club which was actually smaller than our rehearsal room. We started off and the crowd turned the place into a madhouse - literally! Both PA and our equipment needed protection from being thrown over as the moshpit sometimes was bigger than the room... thanks to Phil and Terra for the show and everyone there for a wild night! Next show up will be this friday at Bikini Test in La Chaux De Fonds - see you all there!
Cataract, many show update!... |
08.05.2008 |
We've added some more shows in germany, belgium and austria! remember to contact mad-tourbooking for show requests and please read the last bnew entry. our mailserver was bugged and we possibly lost all incoming mails in april, i.e. we never recieved them. if you're waiting for an answer from us, contact us again. cheeeeerio!
Our mailserver was bugged... |
06.05.2008 |
Dear all, we're sorry to say that our mailserver wasn't working properly for most of april. we tried to work out what and how it did happen, but it remains a mystery. however, all adresses @cataract.cc seem to have been affected - most mails did not arrive and there was no notification to the sender which is the shit bit. some of the mails we've sent did not go out. if you're waiting for an answer by any of us, please be so kind and write us again. This was beyond our control and it's impossible for us to retrieve the lost mail. it's working again now - cheers, tobi!
for some better news, we're getting ready for this week's show at Terra Pfäffikon in Switzerland, it will be crazy as apparently the drumriser is a pooltable and the PA a broken TV set! the show also seems to be sold out so please try to verify that before you come... next weekend will have us play La Chaux De Fonds which will be our first show this year in the french part!
Back from italy!... |
15.04.2008 |
Hello all, we're completely battered from our small tour through italy, but we're also very happy! Breed Agency did a fantastic job, we had really great shows and tons of fun!! Cirié got us started right away; even though we had to play very late we had a great audience partying it down especially in the after hours; Gorizia must have one of the finest clubs in the world and Modena definately needs a new traffic system hahaha! Seriously, we had a spectacular weekend, thanks to all the people coming to check us out and supporting us, it was f'ing great to play for such insane crowds! cheers to Mao + Mainline (especially for helping us out), the local crews for putting up with us, to all the bands we've played with and who lent us equipment, it's much appreciated! next time can someone please order sunshine, italy and rain just don't mix! ci vediamo, i cataract

We've updated our show section... |
06.04.2008 |
hey there cataractians, we've updated our show section, loads of shows have
been added and hopefully loads of you will show up! we're still suffering from
the release show aftermath... it's been well killing us haha! ok just a short
note - all the best to Ralph from Disparaged who helped us out on bass in the
past autumn, he's a daddy as of last week! check our dates! g'day mate!
Cataract entering swiss album charts... |
05.04.2008 |
We've got some great news - we've entered the official swiss album top 100! Well on #79 but hey, better than nothing hahaha!! Allthough we've sold out all our copies of the limited edition cd's and the picture lp's at the release show (which doesn't count for the charts) there were still enough people buying our new album to have us enter the official top 100 - so maybe we would have made it to number one if we didn't sell it? everyone who got it at the rehearsal show shoud buy another copy!? However, the limited cd version and the pic lp are sold out at metal blade, we try's to get some more but MB say "nada!".
For the swiss residents - tonight Rockstation will broadcast an interview conducted with Fedi and Ricky, along with some bad ass metal and another Interview with our labelmates. check out www.rockstation.ch for infos - it's on tonight, thursday, 03.04.2008! Love cataract

Record Release Show Contests! (Deutsch)... |
01.03.2008 |
English version see below… Um unseren Geburtstag and der Release Show kräftig
mit euch zu feiern haben wir beschlossen ein paar spassige Contests durchzuführen…
zu unserer Belustigung natürlich. Und damit ihr Euch freiwillig blamiert,
gibt’s ordentlich was zu gewinnen! Folgendermassen siehts aus:
unsern eigenen Casting Wettbewerb! Zur Teilnahme müsst ihr einfach euer eigenes
Cataract Teil designen, euren Hintern an unseren Merchtisch bewegen, Euch registrieren
Jeder Eintritt kriegt ein Los, also
hat jeder ne Chance was abzustauben!
!!! Over and out!
Record Release Show Contests! (English)... |
01.03.2008 |
Howdy, english apeaking fellas. To celebrate our birthday we've decided to run
three contests at our release show. Here's the deal:
1. Crowdsurfer contest: Register by emailing to info@cataract.cc. We will pick
5 people who will be crowdsurfing with some kind of helping device during the
show. Whoever lasts longest, wins. It's a no rule match, so you may attack your
competitors… Winner gets free entry to all our swiss shows in 2008 and of
course the new cd and a t-shirt!
2. Fashion Victim Contest: Since we haven't managed to produce a megaselling fashion
item, we ask four advice – design you own Cataract garment, move your butt
to the merchtable and register. You choose what it will be and how it will look
like, can be a serious attempt to future fashion design, can be a request for
a beatdown… The winner gets to pick a whole outfit (shirt, zipper, cap,
cd) from our merch so you don't get bullied on the way home!
3. B-day raffle: We will get rid of a bunch of goodies during the night…every
entry gets a number, so everyone has the same chances! There’ll be a lot
of DC and Kingshot stuff to win!
Again, check out our presale for the show, we sell the tickets directly so no
presale fees etc. Check out the link on www.cataract.cc
! Over and out!
New song online!!!! Ticket presale on Cataract.cc... |
20.02.2008 |

like, we've got some amazing reviews already and we're keen on hearing what you
think about it!
We've had two killer shows last weekend, one playing the infamous and
completely packed Juze Oettingen and the other one supporting the mighty Heaven
Shall Burn in Essen! We introduced our new bass player to the audience and Nico
did a great job (we're actually happy he didn't hurt himself in the pit during
Nasty), so we're looking forward to the upcoming shows. We will add loads more
next week by the way!
Talking about it, our record release show with Requiem, Switchback and Shallow
Bloodhood is going well, we're setting up the playlist this week and we'll
throw ina bunch of our new songs to show what cataract 2008 is all about. If

take the hint and use it...
We've already got some new merch, we will post pics of it in our shop soon -
you have to get the zombie shirts, it's mental! and by the way, we're selling
out our old merch, check the shop on our homepage to see what's left!
later, cataractgo!
We're in the studio again, Metalhammer Interview... |

we're still working on it but we need to give you some more information about
what's happened in our world!
first off, there is an article online at Metal Hammer mag's webpage, check out
what Fedi had to say about the new album and the recent history of Cataract.

21.01.2008 |
Allright cataractians, it's done, we're a five piece again! As of today Nico Schläpfer from End Of
Suffering and Timor has joined us as our new bassplayer! We are confident that
he too will add a lot of new spirit and blood to the band - not just because
he's a tiny bit younger than the rest of us haha!!! Of course we want to thank
all the guys who also were ready to ruin their lifes, we had to pick between
four guys and this decision was quite hard to make. We will give you more
information about our new member as soon as possible and we're excited to
present him on stage very soon!
Then, we'd like to announce our Record Release and 10th Anniversary show which
is scheduled for the 20.03.2008 which is thursday before Good
Friday/Karfreitag. It'll take place at Rohstofflager Zürich, we will have a
couple of supporting acts and we will take care of a good sound as well.
Tickets are available through pitfire.net and directly through us, we'll let
you know when. We've got some other things planned for the release of our fifth
full length and we will announce everything in time.
Talking about the new cd; it will be self titled as it's the right thing to do
right now and it's due on the 20iest of march (G/A/S) and the 25th in the rest
of Europe! you can check out the cover under metalblade.de! There will be a
limited Digipack version with a bonus disc where yours truly will play some old
school hardcore and metal candy and maybe we'll even play one or two on the
release show! We'll post the exact songs in their order as soon as we've got
that sorted out. Metal Blade will also release a limited edition on Picture
Vinyl by the way and it will look killer!
We also have some new merch on the way, we should recieve it by the middle of
february. We are currently selling out some of our older designs and have
lowered the prices, there's just a few (thats one or two) left of those items
so check the webstore on our homepage! We've also added some more shows btw, so
check the dates out too! Cataract 2008

Cataract looking for the final (bass) player! ... |
12.12.2007 |
it's been rumoured that we're looking for a new bassplayer, and funny enough we
realized it's true when we were in the studio... damn! so here we are, looking
probably for YOU. here's what we want:
- obviously, it's great if you live in switzerland. we will rehearse at least
one and up to three times a week in zurich so you should be able to do that
without discussion.
- it's nice if you've played in a band before and you're familiar with having
shows, performing on stage, studio etc.
- it's also nice if we'd already know you in some way, allthough this is not a
must.
- we will be your social life from the time you join the band, you might want
to think about that. it's basically half the weekends and half the evenings of
a year you will have to endure the rest of us.
- you should have the skills.
- you should have proper equipment.
- you love music. your background should be metal and/or hardcore.
- you will be a full member of the band.
- you also will be asked to do your share of the band work.
please send us an email (info(at)cataract.cc) and tell us why you think you're
the perfect pick! we will invite you for a little jam session if we think you
are fit.
Suchen geeigneten Tieftöner! ... |
12.12.2007 |
ebenfalls on the road.
Email an info(at)cataract.cc und sag uns warum du's bist! Wenn wir interessiert
sind, packen wir Dich in den Proberaum und hören uns an ob's kracht!
Studioreport 2007 Day 13... |
26.11.2007 |
Last day! At least for Tom, Greg and myself. And it started with a bang – a computer bang, and we feel honoured to have met a Mac with a problem! Well the power supply has blown, so that’s good bye to the machine, we’re working on Tue’s Laptop now which is only a little bit slower. Tom has done some brutal extra vocals to brutalize the songs. B to da r to da fucking utal! Some last overdubs were also done and a final fart has been conducted too. So we’ve packed up our things are ready to leave, just waiting for the first very raw mix of the next cataract cd. As mentioned before we’re leaving Fedi behind to finish off the vocals we’ll keep you updated about the funny things happening on our trip back and at Antfarm.

Studioreport 2007 Day 12... |
25.11.2007 |
Farewell is getting closer now. We spent half of the day on placing samples, fucking up guitars, cutting out parts, making intros, rearranging and erasing. We ended up with results hat blew us right out of the door and will make up for ear damages we might have obtained. Fedi finished two more songs, and we’ve been stressing him out quite a bit haha! But again, it’s worth the extra effort. There’s three songs left now which we hope to finish tomorrow or at least as much as we can put it on a cd and listen to it on the way home. Fedi will stay until Wednesday and has to make all lines sound like he was on coke. Looking forward to hear that!

24.11.2007 |
Ok my face is kinda deformed so I had to go and see a doc today, don’t worry it’s all fine, I’m not a leper. Greg and Tom did almost all guitar solos and overdubs today, and Fedi continued with the songs. Since we can’t stress his voice too much we’re almost constantly finishing two song every day and if there’s time left we muse on editing the songs.

23.11.2007 |
Bwoah I’m sick as a dog. Seriously, check out the pics and if you see a guy with a football attached to his face, that’s me. I haven’t slept an hour and now I’m spending time sipping tea while the rest of the guys stuff their faces at Tue’s mansion. I hope they got dogfood! I’m not giving you the details of what I did today, you wouldn’t like it. Tom and Greg finished the bass while I went to the airport to pick up Fedi. I took him more or less directly to the studio were Mr. “which games are gonna be on TV tonight?” checked out our work and his happy face tells me he’s just been blown away! Well since they started to make fun of my big face I had to leave and I’ll tell you more next time.

22.11.2007 |
Another busy day has passed, the last guitar tracks have been laid down and we’ve done the bass for five tracks already. It sounds more metal than ever, quite a difference from our old recordings! We’re progressing really fast now, which will leave us enough time to do the vocals and all the overdubs, solos, screaming, squealing… and of course the mixing, but that will be Tue’s job. Fedi’s coming in tomorrow and I guess we will be done with the bass lines by then – we’ll let you know! Complete Cataract Studioreport
Studioreport 2007 Day 3
... |
21.11.2007 |
We picked up work where we stopped yesterday; gave those two last takes a good listen and decided we could do better and then did so. It sounds easy but it did take a while until we were convinced they will tear shit apart… it’s funny how you start hearing the slightest mistakes, and hearing nothing but that one hit and not the rest of the song. Tue does a great job there, making us see the important things and not wreck ourselves on some detail no one will care about. We started on two new songs (we cant really tell you much about the titles as we just gave them numbers to reduce the confusion) and so far they’re also going through a night’s sleep too and tomorrow we’ll see where we’re going with them. It’s time for some Eddie Murphy now, so good night!
Studioreport 2007 Day 4
... |
21.11.2007 |
Another long day is over but it was well worth the extra hours! We finished off the drum recordings, ten tracks of solid metal were hammered into shape and will be sharpened during the upcoming days! After we had the last three songs recorded, we went through all the songs again, did some final changes on two of them and now we can’t wait to start working back at the Antfarm… we will again add some more pictures today or tomorrow! Cheerio!

21.11.2007 |
After spending some additional hours at Feedback yesterday evening to remove the drums, today started with moving all the guitar stuff into a completely re-built Antfarm and setting things up for the guitar sessions. Tom and Greg basically spent all day searching for the perfect sound and the perfect combinations. We have an army of amps we can try out, but of course we also brought our own equipment. At the end we recorded two tracks including the bass to give it a listen at home, and it sounds very promising, even though no buttons have been touched! Looking forward to tomorrow!

... |
21.11.2007 |
I actually stayed at home all day while Greg and Tom worked hard. They played guitar. All – day – long. Boring. Here’s what I did: slept another hour, got out of bed late, vacuumed and cleaned the kitchen, did the dishes, had some soup, made lots of mails, erased one hundred times more spam, ate Christmas chocolate, watched Knuckledust’s dvd and listened to the album, more mails, also did lots of myspace business and then had a biiiiig wank. Oh well since you might not be interested in my daily musing, Tom and Greg finished three more songs plus the ones from yesterday and it’s kicking serious ass! I’m surprised how the songs differ among themselves but it’s still pure Cataract!

Studioreport 2007 Day 7
... |
21.11.2007 |
Alright a bit more on topic this time. Today was Tue’s day off, we actually thought we’d just hang out at home but we had the pleasure to work with Jacob Olsen, still at the Antfarm of course. We did some little changes to the rhythm guitars in two songs we’ve already recorded, but then again it was time for Ricky to sod off and be a housewife again. Greg and Tom went on working on the songs, they recorded two new ones which developed to be quite a piece of work but listening to the recording right now I have to say it was well worth it! I’m sure you’d agree if you could hear it… but you can’t. Not yet. Oh yeah if any Danish people recall what Tue did on Saturday night, he’ll be happy to know, he was wandering around the studio in his bare feet and mumbled something about 2 hrs of sleep and winning. Later guys!

Studioreport 2007 Day 8... |
21.11.2007 |
We’re almost done with the guitars and even though there’s nothing done on the mix they sound massive! There’s one more song left now and then we’re probably gonna flip a coin to see who’s starting on the bass… I actually would love to, but apparently it’s not that easy. Fedi is going to meet up with us on Wednesday so we have plenty of time to work on those extra things and then of course the vocals. And that’s it for today, really…

Studioreport 2007 Day 2
... |
16.11.2007 |
Today meant business. Ricky turned the drums to ashes and we recorded four songs
that we’re really happy with, you people will love them. We also did a first take for two
more songs but frankly, after six hours of noise…. we will decide whether they’re
good or not tomorrow. So we’re looking at the basics for five songs and we’re f’ing
happy with them to say the least. You people will love them. They’re polite death
metal. We’ll evaluate what that exactly means as soon as we know more about it. Complete Cataract Studioreport
Studioreport 2007Day 1
... |
15.11.2007 |
This day meant basically getting ready for recording the drums. We went back to that
place Feedback Studios where we’ve been for the “triumph” sessions and where
Knuckledust and Moonspell just did their drum tracks. We’re using a smaller room
though, it makes the drums sound amazing just as such so it’s less work on the desk
and more sound on the record. If you care, we’re using Tue’s own pearly white
Yamaha Set which sounds as nasty as it looks, it has coated skins giving a lot of
attack; a 14”x 5” metal snare nicely smashing eardrums, plus the usual variety of
cymbals including a amazingly noisy 20” china. No amps on the guitars, they are just
plugged in and sent through some guitarizer or whatever you may call it. Most time
we spent setting up, sound checking and rehearsing. We ended up starting with the
recordings, did one song and got started on two more, but then called it a day as we
still were battered. By the way we will try to add some pictures. I guess they will be
up on myspace pretty soon and later also on the webpage. Complete Cataract Studioreport

14.11.2007 |
Okay buddies, we’re online, as of Tuesday, the 13th of November. We had a little trouble hooking up to the internet but lets just say we had better things to do, actually! Here’s what we did so far:
Day 0: Drove up to Denmark, 1225kms more or less straight with a completely packed
Volkswagen Sharan; tons of drum accessories, cymbals, pedals; a collection of
guitars and amplifiers plus four bags full of Swiss bread, milk and chocolate so we
don’t starve in the home of the fluffy bread. We’ve met Tue, moved into a nice flat
which will be our home for the upcoming days, made some pasta and more or less
went straight to bed. Complete Cataract Studioreport
This year's final show was a blast!!!... |
10.09.2007 |
We didn't really expect it, but how good are the shows that turn out to be just amazing? Playing the Estrich in Winistorf (which by the way is a really nice venue that just needs ventilation hah) was a f'ing blast! This place is literally out in the field and if you don't know where to drive to you have no chance to find it. lucky more than enough people did find it and the whole village was turned into a parking lot. The time schedule soon was gone AWOL but it didn't matter as the place was full and people seemed to enjoy the brutality. after all the death, mutilation and grind dealed out we kinda were the pop act of the night but apparently everyone was happy to get sissy punches from us! we've recorded half of the show and hopefully we'll be able to post some of the footage.
as this was (as far as we know now) our final show this year, we'd lie to thank all you people for booking us, feeding us, supporting us or just being there! we will tell you all in a bit what the plans are for the rest of 2007. keep checking back - you will love it!
Joch'n'Roll battered, Metalfest destroyed... |
02.09.2007 |
what a weekend! we finally managed to play the Joch'n'Roll fest, it still was quite crazy - we switched positions with Volbeat in the last minute as they were stuck in traffic. nevertheless, we got to play the main stage like this so we wont complain especially not since the crowd went nuts and we had a nice farmer's pit going with lots of straw flying about! Metalfest in Uri also suffered from murphy's law as the mixing board kinda blew up while Inishmore were playing... the technicians managed to fix it but of course this took quite a while. we started with a delay of about one hour I think, but luckily with great sound so the festival ended loud as it's supposed to be!
this weekend's show in Winisdorf will be our last so far for this year, so come out and rock out at the estrich!
some kick ass shows and lots of driving... |
29.08.2007 |
allright it's time for a big wash up; we've had half a dozen shows and of course we need to tell about our little adventures in the big big world. some weeks ago we went off to play an amazing Brutal Assault fest in Jaromer, CZ with ralph from Disparaged filling in on bass - thanks again bro!! It was a pity we had to leave after a fantastic afternoon show in front of a completely mad crowd (by the way metalpics.ch has some killer pics online) as we had to drive to germany for another show which was more or less in the middle of nowhere and left us in some trouble finding it. However, we ended up there just in time to rock out in the middle of the woods so cheers to all the people moshing the mud up haha!
last weekend we played Weinheim alongside Cracknail, Dresden's Boom Fest with Disillusion and The Bones and ultimately the one and only Ieper Fest with about a billion bands, this time Jay from Vale Tudo helped us out again. And boy this weekend was rock'n'roll. We ended up with a smaller van than planned so after 2hrs we gave up trying to pack our stuff and decided to drive with the van and a private car. Instead of splitting the ride between three drivers we more or less were constantly behind the wheels of steel, killing kilometers and praying for insomnia. It turned out well though, we only got flashed 4 times plus one possible case of "defamation of a civil servant on duty".
cheers to all the people setting those shows up and of course the crowds making it all worth it!
Our crazy shows this weekend... |
07.08.2007 |
Just to avoid any confusion, here's the deal for this weekend: Our appearance at the Brutal Assault fest has been moved to Saturday, the 11th of august, showtime is 1615hrs! We have another show on that day at Rübenau/Marienberg at the WGSOAF fest, showtime around 2300hrs. We will play both shows, nothing is cancelled. Just to let you know. Ralf from Disparaged will be filling in on bass this weekend, by the way!
Finland and Paleo were killer!... |
27.07.2007 |
Our trip to finland was total killer. even though we had to struggle a lot it all went really well. Jay learned the songs in more or less one rehearsal, then we had to make him go to finland one day earlier (cheers to low cost flying) and then he had to hang out all day with a bottle of rum until we finally arrived friday evening after an adventurous drive through finlands woods. we spent the night at ollis's place, completely knackered from the travelling and then we've been hanging out at the fest all day - we had a huge backstage with tv and a sauna haha! The show was spectacular, we had all equipment lent by other bands and it worked out really well! the place was on fire and we sure hope well get that guy who filmed the whole thing!
as soon as we were home as soon we also had to get to the Paleo festival wehere we played an outdoor stage in the village. It must have been the weirdest show this year, as we had to keep the sond really low - the drums were taped up with tissues and duct tape because they were too loud! So we don't really know if people heard us in front of the stage haha! nevertheless, it was great fun so cheers to all the people helping us out in these shows! Love cataract
Würzburg kills... |
02.07.2007 |
Würzburg kills... and we're not referring to the shit traffic that had us arriving more or less right on time to enter the stage! it's been a while since we've last been to Würzburg (I think that was with Malm ages ago...) so we've been wondering how this fest will turn out and we've been very pleased - great sound, great set, lots of headbanging and moshing plus we even had a so called "wall of the death" tearing the place in two haha! So, Rock Falls proved to be a very cozy fest with an extraordinary stage, great food and a crowd that likes to party! cheers to chris and his crew for setting this up and see you all again!
Some more or less shit news... |
02.07.2007 |
We have to infrom you that Kay is no longer part of the band. Jay from Vale Tudo will be filling in for the upcoming shows and when we're done we'll be looking around for permanent replacement. we'll update the shows in a bit so keep checking back!
Greenfield's Hardest!... |
18.06.2007 |
It's been a day and a half to recover but we're still lacking the words to tell about the greenfield show. I guess the praise of the awesome location has to step back because this must have been one of our best shows ever! We guessed there'd be about 400 people who actually would listen to us - but boy were we wrong. Greenfield liked it the hard way! We had a packed tent and 40 minutes to finish off the chapter of metal, and the crowd loved every minute of it - and so did we. The sound was killer (not loud enough though haha), the response was overwhelming and there was probably the biggest mosh pit this fest has ever seen - along with some smaller ones! so cheers to the thousands in attendace, making this a night - well an afternoon to remember!!!
To those giving us praise after the show, it means the world to us. and those who can't believe we're from switzerland, listen to this: Mier händ denn imfall meh fründe uf myspace als die andere schwiizer bänds! also drs 3, fäcts und schwiizer familä: chönd üs gärn iilade. märsi.
over and out, cataract

Soul of Metal cancelled!... |
08.06.2007 |
We have to inform you that the whole soul of metal festival has been cancelled due to some tragic incidents around the main promoter of the show. All the best to Martin and keep your head up.
Show log file for the last weekends... |
05.06.2007 |
we've played some crushing shows in the past days. First off was the Rock Hard fest where we played the probably nicest venue ever right after Crucified Barbara, that was also our first "big" show with the new line up and we loved it! Cheers to Stoney and Frank from RockHard for being such amazing hosts - we'll remember the hotel offer next time haha! Then we went off to Rostock to play a quite chaotic but nevertheless great show; it had to be moved due to the police raiding the original venue two days before. to top it off we played a sold out Sackfabrik in Magdeburg. Not only did we slaughter kay's beard with a carpet knife but we also played one of our craziest shows ever - people queued up for the stagedives and started jumping off the PA! And as we covered the redneck stomp fedi followed them - thanks for catching him folks! We literally ran out of songs, but seriously we couldn't expect such a response!! Thanks again to all involved and of course the bands helping us out!
Last friday we (along with Zatokrev) opened up for Type O Negative and MachineHead at the legendary volkshaus - even though our stage space was very limited and we had close to no monitor sound, the show kicked ass big time! we had to stop after 30 mins and sadly couldn't play encores, however thanks to all the people (and all the ladies from free&virgin) for the great support and the cheering after the show! Lucerne on saturday was another sold out show, small stage, hot venue and lots of moshing! thanks to Pippo and crew for setting it up and Fallen Century and Horatio for kicking it too!
Next up is the greenfield fest - lets see what happens there haha! love, cataract
Cataract live @ Hell On Earth... |
04.06.2007 |
we just recieved some video footage of our h.o.e. appearance last year here in switzerland. cheers to hänu for putting his live on the line haha! the recording sometimes blacks out but I guess you can figure out why. View the video on Youtube website
Big news update... |
25.05.2007 |
our ascension weekend was a f'ing blast!!! it started off in stuttgart where we played the moist pits of Prag club - cheers to all the metalheads coming to see us on such short notice, and xtra special thanks to seb from Epitome Of Frail and Tom from Bleeding Nose for setting things up! We then headed to Essen to headline the Filled With Hate warm up show along with the disciples of brutality Clobberin' Time, Brothers in Crime, Ruction and SelbstMordAttentäter... and 200 liters of free beer and half a dozen fistfights in an almost tropical atmosphere. cheers to Dennis, Rico and Axel for setting things up! To top it off we played a sold out Club de B in Torhout with Maroon, Spoil Engine who released their new cd and Distorted with almost 400 people going nuts during the show - some people climbed the pa for their stagedives! props to Steven and his crew for this amazing evening!
Good News / Bad News - our spot at the Greenfield has been moved, we now get to play later and longer which is cool. However, we have to cancel the Summer Blast fest, as the time gap for travelling to trier is simply too small. We tried to move our showtime there but its not possible and the people from Summerblast don't want to take the likely risk of us getting stuck in traffic. We're sorry for all the inconvenience caused. Concerning our show with Machine Head, Chimaira have cancelled their show so us and Zatokrev are both playing later. the ticket price has been reduced now and those who hold the original ticktes will get free drinks!
Some more shows have been added too: Rockfalls fest in Würzburg, Boom fest in Dresden, Ieper fest in duh! Ieper and No fest in Weinheim, check the dates! love cataract!
Cataract playing Greenfield Open Air!!... |
16.05.2007 |
Now it's official! great news for us, bad news for the faint-hearted. Cataract will definately play this year's Greenfield fest in Interlaken, Switzerland! After Gränichen this is the second time we are playing an event like this in switzerland and boy it's the big one! To avoid any confusion, we also have a show announced in Trier on that day and we are currently sorting this out as we plan to play both shows, which will be another first for us. If anyone wants to sponsor us a helicopter, just write us an email, we will probably accept it! We will be appearing quite early on the tent stage (check www.greenfieldfestival.ch) and after the show head off to Trier to play the ultimate Summer Blast Fest, so as long as we don't announce something different here, both shows are happening.
Our show in Kufstein, Austria was killer by the way, some of the kindest people we've ever met - offering us beer on stage while we played haha! so cheers to Peter and the whole gang (Dryrot, Raypissed) for a great night!
We will have some more shows announced soon, so keep checking back!
Tom's a dad - again!... |
08.05.2007 |
Right, this is some rather unusual news but we're very happy to announce the arrival switzerland's youngest death metal lunatic: as of now, Tom's a double dad! DEMIAN was born last week and will be raised to the sweet sound of possibly cannibal corpse, ion dissonance and of course cataract and disparaged! horns up to the family, may the blast beat be with you!
on some other, more usual but still great news - we've added another show we could slip in. We will be appearing at the earshakerdays on the 1st of June at the volkshaus in zurich, along with machine head, type o negative, chimaira and zatokrev!! we'll be on stage quite early (read around 1800hrs), so may we suggest you come in early. see you all there
Last minute show in Stuttgart added!!... |
30.04.2007 |
Folks, we have a last minute show we can add, on the way up to the Filled With Hate warm up party we will make a stop in Stuttgart and play the thursday night at club prag. Epitome Of Frail will be playing with us plus another band we're working on, we will make that official as soon as we can - it will be our first show outside switzerland with the new line up, by the way!
come out and rock out!
Blood, sweat... and no tears... |

Dance of days festival coming up... |
19.04.2007 |
Heya everyone, another great show is coming up, this time it's the dance of days fest at the Remise in Wil and yes that's spelled with one "L", unlike the back of about 173 tourshirts that obviously were done with thesaurus' autocorrect function activated. however, we're gonna rock out with Terror, Full Blown Chaos, Teamkiller and lots more, festival starts at 1500hrs, check out Danceofdaysfestival.ch for more information!
we've updated our shows section, there's some amazing shows coming up as the Lappeenranta Fest in Finland, we'll be performing (I have to write it that way) at the famous Paléo Festival in Nyon where maybe bjork will join us fo a slayer cover, who knows?! The festival is almost sold out already, even on the day's we're not playing, it's insane! more news, we've also added Brutalassault festival in the Czech Republic which will be quite extraordinaire, taking place in a fortress built in the 1780ies and featuring bands as Pain, Immolation, Sturnus, Katatonia and many, many more. We've also got some more shows confirmed but we don't have much information for those yet, we will update it as soon as possible. OK so long, see you grilling at the Dance Of Days Fest!
Pics from our first show with tom... |
12.04.2007 |
hey you all, it's a bit late but what the heck; first off THANKS to all the people involved in the heavymetal.ch fest - our first show in the new line up! The venue was sold out with over 700 metalheads showing up and I can tell you we've been nervous, but after all it was amazing playing to an audience tearing the place apart with a massive wall of death!! We've got a weight off our shoulders now as we recieved tons of praise for the new kid on the block, Tom played a fantastic show and we're now looking forward to our upcoming shows twice as much! Cheers also to all the bands playing, especially Neil from Benediction/ex Stampin' Ground (say hi to your kid from us!), and last but not least, all the crazy people coming out to party with heavymetal.ch! check out our pics on Photopit.com and get some impressions of the show!
Cataract out of hibernation... |
26.03.2007 |
We're officially out of hibernation as of next saturday when we will play our first show with the new lineup at the heavymetal.ch fest! come by if you want a full dose of metal as the line up is loaded with amazing bands!! we're looking forward to this show and of course next month's dance of the days fest where we will introduce the new line up to a hardcore audience (terror and full blown chaos will share the stage with us among tons of other bands)!
more news soon! cataract
Tom's profile is online... |

Cataract back for good!!!... |
15.02.2007 |
Yes it's true, we are back to a five piece! And we're glad we can stop the guessing and rumouring by officially welcoming Tom Kuzmic whom you might know from death metal monsters Disparaged to the mighty realm of Castle Cataract!
We also thank all the people who wanted to ruin their lives by joining us on our trip to hell or volunteered to jump in case we couldn't find someone - you guys fucking rock! We are confident this is the best that could have happened as Tom has more than 100% of what we were looking for!
We already started rehearsing with the new line up and things are looking great for the shows we wisely didn't cancel haha! So once again to end all discussion - we will play shows, starting March 31st! We will keep you posted on the progression.
Cataract looking for new guitarist... |
22.01.2007 |
Deutsche Version weiter unten! allright, as we announced here's a little hint
on what we're looking for. of course it doesn't have to be a 100% coverage, we
will discuss it as you write in, but make up your mind about these points. we're
not just looking for someone who can play our songs, but for someone who brings
his own style and wants to push our music further. We're not looking for someone
with rock star dreams, but for someone who loves metal and hardcore as we do,
who loves music and who is willing to kick ass with us. so here we go:
- experienced concerning playing in a band and on stage
- appropriate skills on the instrument of course
- you have your own ideas to add to our sound
- musical background can be as open minded as you want, but the main thing
should be death/thrash metal alongside with the brutal end of hard- and metalcore.
- rehearsing 2x/week in Zurich
So let us hear about your vision and don't be shy!
Also:
Also, auf geht's!
Cataract in hibernation... |
15.01.2007 |
Dear Cataractians, we have some rather big news for you all. We've had several discussions between different members about our future concerning music, shape, form and structure of Cataract and of course the year lying ahead. And, after a final meeting this friday, we agreed to disagree - our founding member Simon decided to part ways with Cataract to pursue his own projects, which you will run across sooner or later. We had nine incredible years and all of us will remember the times we had. we're parting in peace as we all agreed that this is the best way for both sides.
Simon says the following to his departure: "Sometimes you come to a cross road in life where there is only one way to go. I choose the path of facing a new personal and musical challenge. I have been part of this band as a founding member for nearly 8 1/2 years. I am thankful for the great experiences I have made and for all the old friends, new friends, promoters, journalists and tons more - you know who you are - I met over the years through the band. I want to thank all bandmembers - previous and past - that shared a vision. I wish cataract all the best."
We have decided to take a break until we worked out all the band bizness and we'll use the time to evaluate simon's successor. We unfortunetely had to cancel the show in Aarau but we will make up for it as soon as we're a five piece again. All other shows (we will add them soon) are still hot and will happen. If you have any questions, contact us.
Of course we're looking for a new guitarist now, we will make another posting with our ideas and requirements in short time. If you already think you have got "it" then contact us on info@cataract.cc.
Simon, all the best on your way, we all know you will make it!

Cataract at X-Mas and new Merchandise
... |
22.11.2006 |
hey everyone, we've had a incredible weekend playing small club show in oettingen and oberwolfach, both shows were absolutely packed and the response was just incredible! Cheers again to Honig and Jan for setting things up (next time it won't be such a hassle) and of course to all the people who came out to see us - even if it was next to the end of the world haha!
some news:
We have two shows left this year: 02.12. in Kaisten, Switzerland and our last show for 2006 at the X-mas Metal Mosh in Zug, Switzerland. Presales for the latter one have just started on Pitfire.net and Kingshot.net, be sure to get there, it's gonna r.o.c.k.! The show on the 20iest will be cancelled as it was booked to follow the X-Mass tour which we won't play now.
Imperial-clothing.com are our latest ally when it comes to merchandise - they will sell some of our actual merch plus some exclusive designs in germany and the whole rest of Europe. Now this will be interesting for EU citizens as it will be much, much cheaper to order from them - less postage and no taxes. So check them out but DO NOT look at other merch than ours. okay? OKAY???
thats it then, see you around, cataract
Some other News... |
24.10.2006 |
We have some new merch which should also be uploaded soon, plus there will be various new designs made by Imperial Clothing. And we will also upload some more pictures soonish.

We’re not going on the X-Mass tour as you might have catched, this is final. We’re sorry about this and thank all the people who sent emails and phoned in – we will make sure we come by soon, especially to Paris.
Finally we will be presenting the X-Mas Mosh on the 22nd of december with Kingshot, besides us Soul Demise, Dark Day Dungeon, Vale Tudo and Taste of Tears will be entering the stage of the Galvanik in Zug.

immediate replacement. We need a dedicated person, that is willing to
play a lot, take part in regular rehearsals, spend your holydays

of changes and discussions. Creativity is a must.

Cataract cancel Flamefest ... |
06.06.2006 |
Dear all, we had to cancel our show at italy's biggest event for metal/hardcore music, the Flame Fest in bologna. our apologies go out to the promoters who got us on the bill in the last minute and of course to all the people who were there expecting us. here's why we couldn't make it: Number one: Our Van broke down on the way back from our show in Quedlinburg on saturday, a hose of the charging system bursted - I hope I'm translating this right. We got help from the road rescue who could fix it but told us to look for the nearest service station to get the hose replaced. We agreed with the rental company to return the van in zürich.
Number two: the rental offered us a replacement van for monday morning, but they couldn't tell us what time. so we had to cancel our plans of driving to milano, spending the night there and travelling the second half on monday. As we finally got an availability time for the new van (1000hrs monday morning), we also faced a serious time problem: there was no chance we could drive to bologna in 4 hours, especially as the main route through St. Gotthard tunnel is currently closed. So we decided to call it off.
Again, we're very sorry about this whole hassle; we tried to inform the promoters but we couldn't reach anyone with the numbers we had. we will return.
On a different note, our shows in Bischofswerda and Quedlinburg were killer and definately worth the 12 hours it took us to get there! cheers to all the bands we've played with (especially detrimental threat for lending us the drumkit) and of course the whole crew at Eastclub and Reichenstrasse. Last but not least, all of the maniacs for showing up, supporting the metal and hardcore underground... especially the 350 madmen and women in Quedlinburg - another night to remember! also thanks to the guy explaining us how to make "hackepeter" out of a pig, hahaha!
cataract
What a weekend !!!... |
30.05.2006 |
First of all, thanks to all the people who came to our record release party and rocked the house last wednesday!! It was truly a night to remember, a packed club and a crowd we could only dream of - cheers to every single one of you for showing up and supporting swiss metal! thanks especially to those who helped making it possible: Oli "chom gib em nochli!" and the whole Abart crew, our lovely ladies for their help with the merch; Martin for a killer sound, Dark Day Dungeon for increasing the pressure and Mosh for joining us on stage, our special guests Dani PX-Pain, Martin Solid Ground, Wini 5 Days Rain, Raffi New Morality and Sven Snitch and whoever else made it on or in front of the stage to sing along! We also already got the first pictures of this blasting show: check out www.rabbitriot.net and www.browar.ch/gallery !
There's one thing we need to set straight now - everyone coming to the show was supposed to get a small present (a keyholder / lanyard) at the door, and apparently this didn't work out. So what we are offering you is to just ask for it next time you see one of us, come to one of our shows etc etc, we made enough of them to keep you all happy.
We took thursday off to chill out and then went on a trip through the mountains and played the Eternity Of Rock Festival in Lichtenberg, Italy on friday in a truly unique spot - a nice and cozy site surrounded by mountains! Saturday had us playing the tenth anniversary of Ancient Spirit mag and we got to see the german national football team entering a plane just nearby haha! So cheers too to Gunny and Hage for these fine festivals!!¨
see you all again! cataract
Kingdom #1 most added at college metalradio US/Canada... |
26.05.2006 |
Cataract's "Kingdom" is #1 most added at college metal radio US/Canada! Friends, our new album "Kingdom" was officially #1 most added at college metal radio this week @ CMJ's Loud Rock and FMQB's Metal Detector charts, beating out such heavyweights as Dissection and Eighteen Visions. Unbelievable but true!
CMJ's Loud Rock chart consists of airplay from college stations all over the
U.S. and Canada, and FMQB's Metal Detector chart is compiled of spins from
high wattage college stations and commercial specialty programs.
This marks something special to us! After great reviews and response from press and all our european fans so far, this is just awesome as hell!
So, get your copy now. There are still some digipacks around for Europe only of course.
New website layout online!... |
22.05.2006 |

layout fot the webpage is ON! there's not only changes to the layout though,
we've also added some things we've been asked for - we have a link section and a
community/forum now! the forum's here for cataract matters only: if you need
confirmations about a show (for booking requests check the contact page), if you
wanna now what we ate last sunday, if we think it sucks that Derek Roddy left

advertising etc - read the disclaimer, we will live up to it. We have also
changed our online shop, and we added a shitload of new items - yes, the KINGDOM
merch has arrived! Please report any inconvenience that you may have with the
page to the webmaster, it will help us to get this thing roling!
Now lets talk about our release show:
- Cataract's Backstage Contest Winner has been drawn - we dressed up as ladies
and smeared ourselves with oil while our lucky lady Corina picked the winner -
it's NATHALIE NOHL from MEILEN yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee clapclapclap (I hope I got the
name right...)!!!!
- The cover versions have been picked too - we actually realized it would have
been a good idea to limit the poll to the people who will actually show up on
wednesday hahaha! But thanks to all those who participated, I guess we'll keep
one or two of them for special occasions!
- We sold about four times more tickets in the presale as of now! However, there
are still tickets available, but you'll have to be there early. Abart does take
reservations but you must remember to pick up the tickets on time!!!
- and yes we still do have some surprises for all of you!
Then a big cheers to Josef and all at the Springbreakfest for having us, it was
more or less our main rehearsal for the record release and it seems the new
songs kick ass too! See you guys around - thanks too to Prefume and everyone who
lent us equipment!
OK thats it, gotta go - cataract

We've played two amazing shows with Soulfly, if you were there cheers for supporting us (especially the mad italians!!) and making a lot of noise whilst we were on stage. as you probably have noticed, our second guitar player Simon was missing due to serious health problems, therefore the sound might not have been as massive as usual. However, Simon's getting better daily and we're starting rehearsing again soon.

Studio Update 1... |
15.04.2006 |
we've made our way to danmark - 1260kms and about 10hrs of driving to be precise! ok we've spent a luxurious night in a formula1 hotel but a bunch of partying russians made the night quite long. however, it all doesn't really matter when you're getting ready to record a new album with tue madsen!we've been setting up the drumkit today, got all the equipment in and tomorrow we'll use tue's day off to do some final rehearsing before shit gets real and the red light's on! We're facing eleven tracks of all new cataract music in the month of february and we're positive they're going to be the best ones so far.
keep checking back, we'll try to update every other day.
One week to go !... |
14.04.2006 |
this is the last week before we'll take off to the Antfarm and start the recording of the new album! two weeks are scheduled for the instruments, fedi will join us in the second week to record the vocals. he will stay a bit longer than we do to finish things off and then it's up to the magic hands of tue madsen to make it a vicious blow to the head! we've also added some more shows, more are coming up!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... |
08.04.2006 |
yeah fellas, we're back from a little piece of history. allthough it took us 13hrs driving to Budapest the event was well worth it - one of the two unique live appearances of Trial. We saw amazing shows by Black Friday, Sunrise, Undying (minus the drum kit) and H-street, but nothing could top what over 600 people from all over europe were waiting for. A breath taking, ass kicking "be there or be square" appearance by Trial! Even though the show lasted until almost 0300 in the morning, the place was completely packed till the last chord and you could tell no one wanted this night to stop. thanks again to the whole budapest crew for another night to remember!
Watch out for our last show in switzerland: on the 08th of december we will be special support on the persistance tour! come by and mosh it up with a truly amazing line up!
cheerio, cataract!
Big Cataract news roundup!!... |
00.00.0000 |
NEW ALBUM COMING UP - as you might have seen, we don't have any shows planned at the moment, and that has a specific reason of course. it's pointless to keep it a secret as everyone can figure it out. we're preparing for the recordings of our fifth full length album! we're jamming a lot and working hard on the new songs, tom is driving us crazy with 5 minute solo outbursts, greg insists on songs that only consist of mosh parts, fedi wants to sing about flowers and ricky is officially down to one fully functional cymbal. but seriously, we're very excited about the new stuff!!! once again we will enter the antfarm studios in denmark where we will hammer the crude metal into shape with the help of tue madsen! More on that soon!
BASS PLAYER SITUATION - first off and once again we'd like to thank Ralf from Disparaged and Jay from Vale Tudo for helping us out on those past shows! Of course we're still missing a steady 5th member and in time we will be looking for the right guy, but as of now we aren't. cheers to all the people who have already contacted us about it and those killing our nerves (you know who you are haha), but we are not officially auditioning for a bass player. Not yet. As soon as we will, you will know as we will make it public. You can write us but seriously we're too busy to sort this out now.
CATARACT ON TV - we went to a casting session this past weekend and it was quite an experience. hopefully will be picked to take part in a TV show, and you'll possibly see us making complete twats out of ourselves. we'll let you know how it goes! if we're not too ugly it should be allright and it'll be lots of fun! as usual it'll take between 1 week and 1 year until we finally know.
that's it for now, we'll keep you posted about the album e.t.c. see ya 'round, cataract
